Easter Jeep Safari

March 23 - March 31

The Easter Jeep Safari consists of trail rides, mostly day long trips, departing from Moab Utah throughout the 9 day long event. The official event is hosted by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers Inc. one of the local four wheel drive clubs of Moab. Participants provide their own four wheel drive vehicle, take care of their own food and non-alcoholic beverages for the trip. Rose Masters: Manzanar to Moab

Rose will be joining us virtually – program will be held in the Moab Museum’s South Gallery. Rose Masters, a volunteer and former National Park Service Ranger at Manzanar National Historic Site, will provide an overview of Manzanar’s history and share stories of some of the men incarcerated at Manzanar Relocation Center who were transferred to the Moab Isolation Center following the so-called ‘Manzanar Riot’.

Featuring the inspiring stories of people in the Japanese American community, the 1 hour documentary “Injustice at Home: Looking like the Enemy” focuses on Japanese Americans during WWII, both inside and outside the evacuation zone; chronicling their struggles and perseverance.

Heart Mountain survivor Sam Mihara

Sam Mihara is a second-generation Japanese American (Nisei) born and raised in San Francisco. When World War II broke out, the United States government using armed military guards forced Sam, age 9, and his family to move to the Heart Mountain, Wyoming prison camp.
